Three flights canceled by FAA order to ground Boeing's 737 MAX planes

It comes after two fatal accidents overseas involving the aircraft.

This comes after several nations, from the United Kingdom to Japan, grounded the passenger jets after two Boeing 737 Max 8s crashed in the past four months, killing 346 people onboard.

He said satellite data suggested similarities between the flight profiles of the Ethiopian jet and that of a Lion Air plane of the same type that crashed in Indonesia past year.

President Donald Trump grounded all Boeing 737 Max airplanes within the U.S. Wednesday afternoon, reversing the Federal Aviation Administration's initial support of the aircraft.

The boss of Ethiopian Airlines has called for the grounding of all Boeing's 737 Max 8 aircraft until it is established they are safe to fly. Fiji Airways is the only other operator that will be affected by CASA's temporary suspension.

The move to ban the plane follows calls by a number of USA lawmakers to ground the plane on Tuesday, after two crashes of the 737 Max aircraft in the past five months.

It is not yet clear whether the anti-stall system was the cause of the Ethiopian Airlines crash. "We can't do it", said Germout Freitag, a spokesman for Germany's Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU). Investigators are yet to decode the black boxes from the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines' aircraft to determine what exactly happened during the short flight. Those relate to the specific behavior of this specific type of aircraft. If not, why not? An airline official has said one of the recorders was partially damaged.

Travel company Kayak said it would allow passengers to filter flights by the type of plane used, CNN reported on Wednesday.

Boeing Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg is also confident about the safety of the 737 Max, Reuters news agency reported, citing Muilenburg's email to employees. Complaints are filed anonymously to improve the reporting of safety problems.

The grounding was welcomed by American air workers, and the announcement came hours after the US Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) called on the US to ground the planes in question.
