Diego Costa Refuses To Train With Atleti After Getting Fined

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa was the center of further controversy on Thursday after the Spanish sports newspaper "Diario AS" reported that the Brazilian born Spain global refused to train with his team-mates.

Atletico and Costa's representatives did not respond to requests for comments by several Spanish newspapers, including AS, El Pais and Marca.

Costa felt that Atleti hadn't backed him enough in the wake of his eight-match suspension for a verbal tirade against the match official in Los Colchoneros' LaLiga Santander defeat to Barcelona.

Miller, who was due to fight World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organisation and International Boxing Organisation world champion Joshua, wrote on Instagram that he was devastated upon hearing his boxing licence was revoked in New York State.

That was after he was sent off during the 0-2 loss at Barca on April 6.

AS reports that Costa had been informed by the club on Wednesday that he was to face internal disciplinary action for the sending off, which means he will not play again this season.

It was at that point then that the Spanish global decided not to head for training despite being fully fit.

The player's long-term future at the club was unclear before the incident, with Diego Simeone preferring Alvaro Morata since his move from Chelsea.

Atletico, who are second in La Liga and trail runaway leaders FC Barcelona by nine points with six games left, visit Eibar on Saturday.
