Fast food restaurant to sell CBD-infused hamburger on 4/20

Carl's Jr.is making history this 4/20.

Carls Jr.'s experimental CBD burger will be called "The Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight".

Carl's Jr.is testing out a cannabis burger to stay at the forefront of the CBD trend.

The restaurant said it will debut a burger with CBD-infused sauce at one location in Denver, Colorado on April 20th, the day many marijuana enthusiasts celebrate cannabis and cannabis culture.

Carl's Jr. announced Wednesday that it will introduce it's first-ever CBD-infused hamburger on, of all days, 4/20.

With pickled jalapeños and pepper jack cheese, the burger will cost US$4.20 - a number that is slang for smoking cannabis and the date U.S. cannabis celebrations take place each year.

It will consist of two beef patties made with pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapenos, crisscut fries - oh and a dollop of Santa Fe Sauce infused with CBD. After the Beyond Meat launch, they came up with a wish list that included a CBD product.

The burger will be sold for one day only, at one location in the US. Carl's Jr. will be monitoring sales, as well as customer and franchisee response.

Cannabis enthusiasts in Colorado will now have a savory food item to balance out a well-rounded diet of CBD-infused candies.

The new menu item will be available at 4050 Colorado Blvd.

While coming from marijuana buds, CBD will not get anyone high from its use.

While navigating state-by-state regulations could prove challenging, Trevino said Carl's Jr. had an advantage as a West Coast chain, operating in more states that have fully legalized marijuana. With the passage of last year's farm bill, CBD is becoming mainstream, despite reports of risky ingredients and misleading labels. The chain partnered with Bluebird Botanicals, a Colorado-based company that sells CBD oil and capsules, for the test.
