Larry Kudlow says Trump is not interfering with the Fed

In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union", Kudlow said the Trump administration wants "to grow the economy to its maximum...we're not interfering with Fed independence".

"I find Herman to be an outstanding person, a truly outstanding individual", Trump continued.

Trump has announced he intends to nominate for 2 current exemptions to the seven-member Fed board - to conservative political allies - former 2012 GOP candidate Herman Cain and Stephen Moore.

Herman Cain, President Trump's newest candidate to join the Federal Reserve board, ruminated in a video posted to Facebook Friday evening about the potential nomination, cautioning about what he believed would likely be a lengthy and "cumbersome" vetting process.

The 73-year-old said it was not clear if he will pass the ongoing Federal Bureau of Investigation background check, a standard practice before a high-ranking nomination. But the 2012 Republican presidential candidate did say in an interview with Fox Business Network in February that the Fed should be more anxious about deflation than inflation right now.

Comments by Moore saying he'd be on a "steep learning curve" as to how the Fed operates reflected "a little modesty" by the Heritage Foundation official, Kudlow said. "More than I've ever seen", he responded, appearing to indicate that people make allegations in D.C. against important people, sometimes without reason or cause.

"I happen to think that's a terrific point". In March, he also said he would nominate Moore, a former 2016 campaign adviser, to a seat. There are now two vacancies on the seven-member Fed Board. I'm sure the Senate Banking Committee will do likewise.

Cain suspended his bid for the Republican nomination for president in 2011 after multiple women accused him of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s and one woman claimed she had a 13-year affair with Cain. "They don't necessarily pan out". "I'm just not going to let the accusers run my life or determine my career".

He then said that Trump "has every right in the world to nominate people who share his economic philosophy".

"Whether or not I make it through this process - Time will tell", Cain said.
