Manchester United and Barcelona target Luka Jovic 'to stay', says father

The 21-year-old is reportedly on the radar of Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich after scoring 23 goals for the Bundesliga club this season.

It was an eventful night for teenage striker Joao Felix and English referee Anthony Taylor as Benfica took control of their Europa League quarter-final tie with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic had been linked to a move away from the club.

Jovic himself has said that he would be open to staying at Frankfurt if the team make it into Europe's top competition.

Speaking to Bild, the player's father has quelled talk of a summer exit from Eintracht, however, stating his son's ambition to play Champions League football with the club next year, while similarly addressing fears of game time in Catalonia.

"He's not sure he would get any minutes at Barça".

"He came to me a few days ago and said "Dad, it's not about the money, I want to play football".

Frankfurt are now on course for a top-four finish in the Bundesliga, which would see them qualify for the Champions League next season.

Are you surprised by Jovic's father's claim?

"Luka doesn't want to work against the interests of the club".

Benfica are owed 20 per cent of any future sale of Jovic once Frankfurt inevitably sign him on a permanent basis, which is why the Germans will be looking to extract maximum value from the player who has scored 25 goals so far this season.
