Pistons clinch final East playoff spot with rout of Knicks

In Charlotte, Kemba Walker scored 43 points in what may be his final game with the Hornets, a loss to Orlando that eliminated the hosts from playoff contention. The Hornets own the tie-breaker vs. the Pistons based on winning the season series 4-0.

Even though Detroit had a lot to play for - its first playoff berth in three years and second in a decade - the Grizzlies played with more effort and led 32-20 after the first quarter and 57-38 at halftime.

The Pistons (40-41) will be in the postseason if they defeat the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden (8 p.m., Fox Sports Detroit). With the exception of the 2015-2016 tournament, in which they were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opening round by 4-0, the Pistons have not qualified for the National Basketball Association playoffs for almost a decade. He shot 46.2% from the field and 36.2% from 3-point range.

The Pistons trailed the Grizz by as many as 22 points Tuesday night, but rallied back behind a 20-point, 17-rebound game from Andre Drummond, and a season-high 22 points from Ish Smith, to secure a 100-93 victory.
