The Masters: Tiger Woods chasing victory to break Majors drought

Paired together in the final round of last year's The Open Championship, won by the Italian at Carnoustie, Molinari and Woods found themselves in the last group again battling for a major title.

Written off as too old and too beaten up from four back surgeries and multiple knee operations, Woods underwent a back fusion in 2017 and slowly returned to form.

'Last year I was just very lucky to be playing again.

However, dressed in his traditional final-round red shirt, Woods emerged from a back-nine showdown with two-time major victor Molinari to win his fifth Masters title and 15th major of a storied career that moves him three behind Jack Nicklaus' record haul of 18.

Putting on the 18th to finish final day 13-under-par and winning the prestigious tournament by one shot, Woods fell into the arms of his family waiting by the green. just as he did with his late father 22 years ago.

Now the comeback is truly complete. It is his 15th major title, three behind Jack Nicklaus' record.

The storm was scheduled to hit the Augusta, Georgia area at 4pm local time but is now likely to arrive before noon - increasing concerns the Masters may go to a rare Monday (US time) finish. I couldn't be more happier or excited, I'm lost for words.

And then it seemed as though practically everyone had a chance. As it turned out the end was indeed nigh, an 11-year wait for a 15th major finally over. And that's when Woods seized control, again with plenty of help.

However, an eagle on 15 for Patrick Cantlay put the American atop the leaderboard at -12, only for Schauffele to join him after a birdie at 14 while Brooks Koepka made an eagle at 13 to draw level with Woods and Molinari. Woods followed with a tee shot on the par-3 16th that rode down the slope next to the cup and settled two feet away for his final birdie.
