Atlanta Hawks Among Teams Hoping to Land Zion Williamson

Under the revamped format, the NBA Draft Lottery will ensure that the team with the worst record will receive no worse than the fifth pick. The Chicago Bulls had the fourth-worst record and have a 12.5 percent chance of winning, followed by the Atlanta Hawks (10.5 percent) and Washington Wizards (9 percent) before dropping to a 6 percent chance for the New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies.

Just one day after the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery, the Combine will showcase a good portion of the best talent that will be coming out in this year's draft class. If it ends up being No. 1, the Philadelphia 76ers acquire it, and the Celtics get their pick (No. 24).

So what are the Mavs chances of keeping their pick?

The Mavs agreed to the deal with the stipulation that the pick be top five protected in 2019. It wasn't without controversy though, as many still believe that year's Draft Lottery was fixed by the league.

So while previous years resulted in the team with the highest odds' favor, the Knicks will need lottery luck.

"Believe it or not, the Bible, written some 3,500 years ago, doesn't talk about the National Basketball Association or even the Knicks", Rabbi Adam Mintz who presides over an Upper West Side synagogue told the newspaper.

Of course, the player being referred to here is none other than Zion Williamson. If he can develop an outside shot and keep his weight in check, a star could be in the making. If Boston manages to jump into the lottery somehow, they will enter trade discussions from a much stronger place (there's a big difference between being able to offer a pick that could be Morant and a pick that could be P.J. Washington).

The Celtics would prefer not to see the Knicks or Lakers (2 percent chance) win the No. 1 pick, in large part because they could be best positioned to acquire Davis, and suddenly would have the most valuable asset of all. There could be some players that could slide to them, and things will change on the draft board between now and late June, too.

The difference between finishing with the worst record and the third-worst record has shrunk.

The new rules also state if the player wants to go back to college, they have to remove their name from consideration by May 29th.
