Baytown officer fatally shoots woman after struggle over Taser

A woman was reportedly shot and killed by a police officer in Texas moments after shouting "I'm pregnant".

The confrontation happened at 10:40 p.m. Monday in Baytown, Texas, near Houston.

Authorities say that Turner resisted arrest, prompting the officer to use his Taser. The video shows Turner on the ground with the officer standing over her and yanking her arm when a tussle starts. The officer tased the woman at least once to subdue her. Steve Dorris says the officer was patrolling an apartment complex and attempted to arrest the 45-year-old woman, whom the officer had previously dealt with, because he knew she had outstanding warrants.

The officer was also apparently wounded by his taser during the altercation.

The officer's name has not been released, but Baytown police said he is an 11-year veteran of the department.

The officer tried to give aid to the woman immediately after the incident, however, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The woman is on the ground and appears to reach toward the officer, and then he fired five shots. The officer has been "placed on administrative leave", KPRC reported. According to The Associated Press, police said that they will determine whether she was pregnant during the autopsy.

In the video, the woman is heard saying "You're actually harassing me". "Of course, our hearts go out to the family of the deceased as well as our officer".

Floyd Rubin, who shares two children with Turner, told CNN that police have not shared any details with his family about the shooting.
