Red Hat and Microsoft bring new enterprise Kubernetes platform to Microsoft Azure

The companies announced that they are launching an early access program for interested customers.

Microsoft said the Azure Red Hat OpenShift service cloud be used by its current cloud customers to manage clusters, including master, infrastructure and application nodes.

A fully-managed, jointly-operated service, Azure Red Hat OpenShift is backed by both the open source expertise of Red Hat and the public cloud might of Microsoft. "Through our work with NVIDIA, we are combining leading hardware and software to deliver solutions to address these challenges and help lay the foundation for data-driven innovation to thrive". Now OpenShift 4 provides Red Hat OpenShift Certified Operators.

Microsoft and Red Hat are also collaborating to bring customers containerized solutions with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 on Azure, Red Hat Ansible Engine 2.8 and Ansible Certified modules.

This new extension of its platform offers incremental backup of single or multi-VM workloads, one-click restores, and optimized management. "Trilio's support of Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization offers customers a data protection solution that can support their architecture and data protection requirements".

Simplified configuration management: The Sysdig Operator facilitates configuration of the Sysdig agent, created to reduce the amount of time spent setting policy configurations.

ROBIN Storage will be featured on the OperatorHub and by declaring it as the storage class, Operators and applications can gain the data management capabilities for more effective life cycle management.

More than 8,900 attendees swarmed the Red Hat Summit this week in Boston, where the enterprise open-source software company released the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 operating system and its OpenShift 4 Kubernetes platform.

MemSQL has launched an Operator for Kubernetes to make it easier for users to orchestrate MemSQL with Kubernetes. Customers will be able to define the cluster size, assign memory and CPUs, set a redundancy level, and choose a storage size. The solution is a response to customers' requests for more application and workload portability, according to the CEOs of both Red Hat and Microsoft.
