Barcelona announce the signing of teenage West Brom striker Louie Barry

Had he of signed for club in England, West Brom would've been able to take the matter to a tribunal and negotiate a higher fee.

Barcelona have announced the signing of highly rated English teenager Louie Barry from West Bromwich Albion. "Next season he will be part of Barca's Under-19 squad".

The 16-year-old had been offered an array of lucrative offers to leave the Hawthorns this summer - even undergoing a medical at PSG, however, Barry will now be joining the Spanish champions. Apparently the paperwork has not yet been completed, and that could hold any move up, with more compensation desired.

Barry won the golden boot with three goals as he helped England Under-16s win Val-de-Marne, a Uefa tournament, last year.

Barry first rose to prominence previous year when he scored 10 goals in five games for England Under-15s at a tournament in Italy.

Should he continue his rapid rise he could soon find himself in the next few years playing alongside the "great" Lionel Messi which would be an unbelievable feat for the youngster who hails from Birmingham.
