New American Horror Story: 1984 Promo Reveals Cast And Costumes

While there isn't much solid information about the plot available, the summer camp setting shown in the teaser suggests that it will pay homage to the slasher films of the 1980s.

Love it or hate it, FX's American Horror Story has been going strong for eight seasons, and it's about to head into its ninth, as show-creator Ryan Murphy revealed on Thursday.

The cast includes a mix of AHS veterans and newcomers, who dance and pose to Dan Hartman's 1984 hit "I Can Dream About You".

Emma Roberts, Matthew Morrison and Billie Lourd have all featured in a trailer for the show. Slightly less familiar mugs seen in the announcement video are those of Gus Kenworthy, Angelica Ross, and DeRon Horton in varying degrees of '80s-ness - not to mention a creepy knife-wielding weirdo that looks to be the great John Carroll Lynch.

Pics surfaced this week of Roberts with brunette hair, leading punters to assume that production had begun on the ninth season of FX's horror anthology series. A lot of camera time is given to Morrison's prominent crotch bulge. It was reported earlier this week that Paulson is taking a backseat in Season 9, and won't appear in most, or any, of the new season. She is joining the American Horror Story family in another unforgettable role. There's no word yet on whether or not Peters will make an appearance.

We'll probably have to wait til September 18 to find out, but either way, there's always a twist of some sort with American Horror Story, no matter how confusing or sometimes nonsensical. What we do know about season nine is that AHS alum (and all-around badass) Sarah Paulson will not feature prominently this time around.
