Nicki Minaj refused to concert

She told the Associated Press she pulled out of her show after "educating" herself on the many "issues" women, the LGBTQ community and other minority groups face in the country.

Considering Saudi Arabia's traditional cultural treatment of women, and Minaj's then-secret encounter with Jamaican police, it's obvious Minaj didn't want to risk a similar encounter in at the King Abdullah Sports Stadium in Jeddah during the Jeddah World Fest.

"I'm exhausted of my fans sending me DM's saying they want to commit suicide", she wrote on Twitter.

"Please don't let us down", wrote one user, as the Anaconda hitmaker replied, "I love you guys".

Clapping back in short order, Minaj assured followers that her love for Jamaica knows no bounds.

Saudi officials last week said the Jeddah World Fest would be the region's biggest ever live musical event. "NO disrespect to the Saudi govt".

"For decades the Saudi government has harassed, arrested, and sentenced dissidents violating their freedom of expression, opinion and assembly", the letter reads.

"So in touch with your fans that's a real queen", Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams commented.

While the rapper's fans expressed disappointment that she no longer will perform in the Kingdom, many went to defend their country. "Good job on disappointing whatever fans you had here", tweeted Jeddah-based Jamil Baabdullah. "Definitely respect your decision".

Minaj, known for her raunchy outfits and provocative stage performances, was due to headline the Jeddah World Fest music festival on July 18, but her plan to appear was criticized last week on social media.

Other fans asked her to direct message them to discuss the situation further, to which the Starships hitmaker responded with "ok" and heart emojis. "After careful reflection, I have chose to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest", Entertainment Weekly quoted Minaj in a statement released.
