Tom Cruise, Miles Teller Star in TOP GUN: MAVERICK

The trailer doesn't say much about the plot or other characters in the movie, but it does also feature Cruise riding a motorcycle very fast, piloting fighter jets, and donning his iconic Ray Ban sunglasses for old times' sake.

"You should be at least a 2-star admiral by now". He'll be mentoring a new generation of pilots, including Bradley Bradshaw, the son of Maverick's late partner and best friend Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards).

"I felt it was my responsibility to finally really deliver for you". He'll star alongside the Set It Up breakout Glenn Powell, Oscar victor Jennifer Connelly, Mad Men alum Jon Hamm, Insecure star Jay Ellis and Val Kilmer, returning to play Iceman.

Hamm recently teased the film in an interview with Collider in which he said, "They're using some technology on this that is never before seen". Maverick replies, "One of life's mysteries, sir". "It will be a great film, I promise", Kilmer told The Hollywood Reporter in February . "All of the flying you see in this picture, everything is real". Maverick co-star Jon Hamm has backed up Cruise's claims. The trailer ends with Ed's character saying, "The end is inevitable, Maverick". And it's mostly practical. "Those guys are really up in planes and getting thrown around in multiple Gs". To borrow a lyric from another '80s favorite, he's not gonna take it anymore.

Cruise, 57, a 1980 graduate of Glen Ridge High School (then known as Tom Mapother), reprises the role of Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the sequel to the 1986 film "Top Gun", directed by Tony Scott. Sign up here for Yahoo Entertainment & Lifestyle's newsletter.
