'13 Reasons Why' Season 3 Trailer Teases the Hunt for Bryce's Killer

"We've heard from many young people that 13 Reasons Why encouraged them to start conversations about hard issues like depression and suicide and get help - often for the first time", Netflix said. However, brief as it was, it also confirmed that this season would continue the show's theme of pulling rug out from under its viewers, revealing that in a jaw-dropping twist, the odious Bryce Walker would be killed off - setting the stage for a season-long whodunit. This new trailer sheds new light on the events of season 3 and the investigation into the death of the classmate of numerous main characters.

"Bryce Walker did hurt a lot of people. The one he hurt the most was Jessica Davis", Ani, a new character this season, says in the trailer. Everyone starts to question everyone. And everyone, including protagonist Clay (Dylan Minnette), is a suspect. Clay is then seen being taken out of the school by police.

Meanwhile, Bryce transferred to a different school after receiving three months' probation; Caleb and Tony recommitted themselves to one another; Justin agreed to let the Jensens adopt him, then slept with Jessica at the dance, even though she went as Alex's date; and Mrs Baker moved to NY.

"It seemed to me the ideal opportunity to show what an actual suicide really looks like - to dispel the myth of the quiet drifting off, and to make viewers face the reality of what happens when you jump from a burning building into something much, much worse". But the biggest bombshell in the trailer is that it looks like Clay is being set up as Bryce's killer.

The official synopsis reads: "Eight months after preventing Tyler from committing an unthinkable act at Spring Fling, Clay, Tony, Jessica, Alex, Justin, and Zach find ways to shoulder the burden of the cover-up together while helping Tyler move toward recovery". The stakes are raised in this riveting third season of 13 Reasons Why, as the consequences of even the most well-intended actions can alter a life forever. A release date for season 4 has not been announced, but it will likely be some time in 2020.
