Angelina Jolie breaks down after dropping son Maddox off at university

The 18-year-old's adopted father Brad Pitt was not present to see Maddox off - their relationship has been reportedly strained since their heated altercation on a private plane three years ago.

As earlier reported, Angelina and Brad's eldest son Maddox will start classes at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, to study biochemistry.

While on the Yonsei campus to drop off Maddox, Angelina was asked when she would be leaving, to which she replied, "I leave today, I'm trying not to cry".

The Instagram user posted a photo of the quintessential "Mom-dropping-son-off-at-college" moment along with a video of her chatting with an excited group of people.

A source previously told Entertainment Tonight that Maddox also passed his entrance exams at other universities, but he ultimately chose to study at Yonsei.

"Yes it's time, thank you very much, it seems like a great school", Angelina said to the onlookers.

The proud mom couldn't help but get emotional as she bid him farewell, Metro reports.

Maddox and Angelina first visited the university campus in November 2018 when his mother was on an official visit as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR) Special Envoy. "She has encouraged him to travel nonstop, to learn many languages, and now has plans for him to go to university overseas", the source said.

Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002 and Brad legally adopted him four years later. "She couldn't be more proud of him".
