Fortnite World Champion swatted while streaming on Twitch

Last month, 16-year-old Kyle Giersdorf won $3 million when he was crowned champion of the Fortnite World Cup in NY.

Yet another armed police force has been called in on yet another unsuspecting victim, as the recently crowned Fortnite world champion took a break from a livestream to deal with a swatting incident at his own front door. Kyle leaves the stream leaving his team mates questioning where he went, but after 10 minutes he returns. "They literally pulled up", Giersdorf said when asked about what happened. Kyle streams daily to his audience of over 640,000 followers, so being swatted at this level is kinda insane.

Authorities say an OH gamer recruited Barriss to "swat" a Wichita gamer, but that the address they used was old, leading police to Finch, who was not involved in the video game or the dispute.

Corporal Albert Werner of the Upper Pottsgrove Township Police told ESPN that the department received a call from a person acting as Giersdorf.

The 16-year-old - real name Kyle Giersdorf - was playing the same game that made him an instant millionaire when armed cops surrounded his home. The caller said that he had killed his father and tied up his mother in the garage. "That's scary. The internet's f-- insane".

The young gamer's dad, Glenn Giersdorf, told ABC News he had a message for the person who swatted his son.

In March, Los Angeles resident Tyler Barriss was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in a 2017 swatting incident in Witchita, Kansas, that left a 28-year-old father of two dead after he was shot by a police officer. "I was lucky because one officer he was in our neighbourhood", Giersdorf says on the stream.

The police stated that the call came from "an overseas area, somewhere out of the country". When police called, Giersdorf's father answered the phone, then came out the front door.
