Jeffrey Epstein, billionaire and former friend of Prince Andrew, dies in prison

His death came the day after fresh court papers were released naming rich and powerful men tied to the paedophile's abuse of underage girls.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman told NBC: "This relates to proceedings in the United States, to which the Duke of York is not a party".

Buckingham Palace has "emphatically denied" the allegations, saying that "any suggestion of impropriety with underage minors is categorically untrue".

Previously, it has been reported that Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who had alleged Epstein's former lover Ghislaine Maxwell of holding her as a teenage "sex slave" for Epstein, had alleged that she has had sex with Prince Andrew as a teen.

They also include transcripts from a past deposition in which Giuffre claimed she was forced into a sexual encounter with the Duke of York.

Jeffrey Epstein was under indictment in NY on child sex trafficking charges and awaiting trial.

In the legal documents, released on Friday, Johanna Sjoberg, another alleged Epstein victim, said Andrew touched her breast while sitting on a couch inside the billionaire's Manhattan apartment in 2001.

In 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to a felony charge of solicitation of prostitution involving a minor.

"And so then I sat on Andrew's lap, and I believe on my own volition, and they took the puppet's hands and put it on Virginia's breast, and so Andrew put his on mine".

Ms Giuffre subsequently sued Ms Maxwell for defamation after the media heiress claimed she was a liar.

Ms Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend, has denied the allegations.

"I can't think of any occasion when Mr. Epstein would have any claim to say he had given hospitality to the Princess of Wales".

Police officers cover a medical examiner auto outside New York Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital where Jeffrey Epstein's body was transported.

'I personally, on behalf of myself, deeply regret that Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me, ' she has said. "I am angry as hell that the prison could have allowed this to happen and that I and his other victims will never see him face the consequences for his horrendous actions", the statement read.
