Hundreds of apps supported at launch, thanks to Google — Samsung Galaxy Fold

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy A50s in India on September 11.

If the Samsung Galaxy Fold is going to be any sort of success, it won't just be because the phone is a way for Samsung to showcase the advancements they have made in phone technology and manufacturing.

Samsung will sell the Galaxy Fold 5G in Korea for about $1,990 with 12GB of RAM and half a terabyte of storage. After the Galaxy A30s was certified by SIRIM, two more models have also gotten the green light and one of it is the Samsung Galaxy A50s.

Some of the specially optimized apps for the Galaxy Fold include Amazon Prime Video, App in the Air, Facebook, iHeartMedia, Microsoft apps, Spotify, Twitter, VSCO. The downside to such novelty is that the platform and its apps may not exactly be created to accommodate the new use cases foldable and dual-screen phones open up.

Samsung Galaxy A50s is a 6.4-inch device with full HD+ super AMOLED infinity U display. Just ahead of its planned release in April, however, the company delayed the launch after several reviewers reported display issues with early Galaxy Fold units. The company has since developed a new, thinner polymer cover for the Galaxy Fold's display. This means more apps on the Play Store would now be compatible with features such as seamless App Continuity and Multi-Active Window as compared to the initial launch date.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is coming to the United States in the coming weeks, but before it reaches the hands of future owners, the manufacturer is talking about the efforts involved in designing a user interface, and apps, for a foldable device.

"When Android 10 rolls out and becomes the new standard for Android devices, it will lead more developers to keep foldable-phone users in mind when developing apps", said Sally Jeong, vice president of Framework R&D Group at Samsung's Mobile Division.
