New Poll: Sanders, Warren Surging While Biden, Harris Slip

Biden and Warren have yet to directly clash in the Democratic primary race - compared to the former vice president's fights with Sen.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) (L) participates in a reenacted swearing-in with Vice President Joe Biden in the Old Senate Chamber at the U.S. Capitol January 3, 2013 in Washington, DC.

Elizabeth Warren is on the rise among Democratic voters, but she and other Democrats are less popular with the overall electorate, raising concerns about a bruising primary that could go on for the better part of the next year, a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds.

However, while some are backing Warren for now, many voters, presidential nominees and Democratic Party officials were preaching support for whomever the nominee may be. Her candidacy also holds the potential of energizing women and black voters, two of the most important Democratic constituencies. That's a whopping 22-point jump. "But they shouldn't own more of our democracy".

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online, in English, across the United States. He added, "Heading into the debate, she's very well positioned". Will she work to resurrect her criticism of Biden or does she believe that Elizabeth Warren is now her intended target?

The complaints about Biden from party soldiers often centered on his campaigning skills, and a desire for more diversity in Democratic leadership. His true opponent, at this point, is Warren, not Biden.

This week's debate comes as recent national polls show Biden, Warren and Bernie Sanders leading the Democratic primary field. The Vermont senator has gone from 57% positive in January to 66% now.

"Bernie Sanders having over 50% negative has to be concerning to Democrats looking for electability", Miringoff noted.

The outlet spoke to 100 delegates, many of whom - over half - said they had not yet picked a candidate. Kamala Harris will choose to aim her attacks. That's down to just a quarter of Democrats now. Further complicating that process is the fact that Harris' sister - campaign chairwoman Maya Harris - is frequently on the road with the candidate, putting distance between her and other advisers. Among registered voters, she has a 31% favorable, 42% unfavorable rating.

"She just needs to connect the dots better", said Rebecca Katz, a Democratic strategist.

The urge to beat Trump mattered more to Democrats and like-minded independents than a presidential candidate who inspired them, the poll found. Thirty-seven percent of respondents said they cared more about a candidate who inspired them, while 61 percent said they wanted someone who would trounce Trump in the general election. That's a slight improvement from July when it was the mirror opposite.

One of the questions moving forward is where Sen.

The ideas from Democrats range from ending requirements that bail be paid in cash - which opponents decry as a driver of unnecessary incarceration - to an end to the federal death penalty, which Trump recently reinstated. His overall approval rating is low (41%), a near-record number of people "strongly disapprove" of the job he's doing (45%), a record number disapprove of his handling of foreign policy (56%) and a majority say they will "definitely" vote against him in 2020 (52%).
