Taika Waititi's Jojo Rabbit Gets Outrageous And Moving Full Trailer

Taika Waititi's Jojo Rabbit Gets Outrageous And Moving Full Trailer

Behind the camera, Waititi will follow his blockbuster movie Thor: Ragnarok with Thor: Love and Thunder, which opens in 2021.

Watch the brand new trailer below. The film will be making the festival rounds and is positioned for an awards season run this November. Not the real Adolf Hitler, mind you, but an imaginary one.

An avid member of the Hitler Youth in 1940s Vienna, Johannes Betzler discovers his parents are hiding a Jewish girl named Elsa behind a false wall in their home.

Taika Waititi is skewering Nazi allegiance in the new full-length trailer for his upcoming satire Jojo Rabbit.

In the film, Roman Griffin Davis will play the major role as Jojo Rabbit.

So when rumours surfaced recently that Disney - who had acquired the production as part of the Fox takeover - was struggling to figure out how to market this film, it made a lot of sense.

The film also boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Sam Rockwell, Alfie Allen, Rebel Wilson and Stephen Merchant.

The new trailer has been released ahead of Waititi's latest getting its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday afternoon (NZT) and comes amid concerns Disney is anxious about the Nazi satire. Rockwell plays a Nazi captain, while Waititi appears as the Jojo's imaginary friend, a weird and amusing version of Adolf Hitler. The story follows little Jojo in a Nazi boot camp, who has his life and beliefs turned upside down when he becomes aware of the fact that his single mother, Rosie played by Scarlett Johansson, is hiding a young Jewish girl played by Thomasin McKenzie.
