The Weeknd is unrecognisable at Toronto premiere of Uncut Gems

This marks The Weeknd's first red carpet appearance since reports surfaced that he and 22-year-old model Bella Hadid had split up.

The Weeknd, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, attended the premiere for his first feature film Uncut Gems, when fans nearly didn't recognise him. Whereas he made delicate modifications to his signature look by eliminating his full-grown beard and exclusively maintaining a mustache (with some minor scruff on his chin) and switching up his coiffure, he was virtually unrecognizable. Historical accuracy aside, the beardless Weeknd (the Weekdy, if you will) is a look worth soul-searching for.

It's been a little over a month since the Grammy victor split from Bella Hadid once again, which came about because of "distance", according to a source for E!

Amid the breakup rumors, a source told ET last month that the two are still working on their relationship. "They are in different places right now, physically and mentally", the source shared. "Bella is prepping for her fashion week commitments and Abel [Tesfaye] is working on his music and his upcoming acting debut". While The Weeknd is promoting his movie in Toronto, Canada, which is where he's from, Bella has been out and about for New York Fashion Week.

The insider claimed "They have been arguing a lot recently".

They add "They hope to get back together at one point but for now are focusing on themselves and their projects".
