Brooklyn shooting: 4 dead, 3 injured at gambling site in Crown Heights

Officials say four men are dead and another three people were injured in a shooting at a possible gambling location in Crown Heights Saturday morning.

No one has been arrested over the shooting, which took place in Brooklyn, and the motive and exact circumstances are not known, according to police. Investigators say at least 15 shots were fired.

An estimated 15 people were believed to be inside the club when the shooting began and a minimum of 15 shots were fired, preliminary evidence showed.

Shea said the three people who were wounded - a woman and two men - were being treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The four male victims were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The others are from different parts of Brooklyn. Authorities declined to identify the victims but said the men killed ranged from 32 to 49 years old.

Chief of Detectives Dermot F. Shea said at a press conference several hours after the shooting that at least two firearms - a 9mm handgun and a revolver - were recovered from the scene. Cops said they found cards and dice inside, suggesting attendees were gambling, but no alcohol.

Chief of Patrol Rodney K. Harrison said there were never any complaints of a gambling operation at the location, which was only a few blocks away from the 77th precinct. "Gov. Cuomo and New York State have done a lot to prevent and reduce gun violence, but it is clear there is more work to do at the community level and beyond".
