Unannounced Apple Watch Sleep app referenced by the Alarms app

Since the leak about the Apple Watch Sleep app comes from a mention in an App Store description, there aren't any other details about what it might be capable of or what it might do. Now a screenshot, courtesy of 9to5mac, of the Alarms app is directly referencing a particular Sleep app, which means that it should be well on its way.

It's expected that, when the Sleep app releases alongside the Time in Bed feature, a new watch face will also become available. Native sleep tracking has been the one feature many fans have been waiting for. App Store screenshots have revealed an as-yet-unannounced Sleep app for Apple Watch. Between an ECG monitor and fall detection, the Apple Watch serves not just as a desirable piece of tech, but a successful medical accessory, too. However, both the features were restricted to the United States only. Meanwhile, Apple has released watchOS 6 bringing in more features for the existing lineup as well.

Some have suggested Apple will prompt users to charge their watches on an evening so they can wear them in bed, and again in the morning before heading to work.

The device can measure the heart rate and warn about irregular patterns and detect falls, which are two features that could undoubtedly improve the lives of elderly patients.

Now Devoted Health, a small health insurer covering seniors with private Medicare plans, is offering the Apple Watch as a fitness benefit for its customers.

Bloomberg previously posted a long report on what it expects for Apple to announce with iOS 13, watchOS 6 and macOS 10.
