Dion Waiters Reportedly 'Overdosed' on Gummies on Team Plane, Misses Heat Game

The eighth-year player has either been listed as out with illness or a healthy scratch in every other game this season.

Waiters, it seems, was not well at the end of the flight.

The Miami Heat are zeroing in on making the playoffs this year, but they suffered a hiccup when Dion Waiters was nowhere to be seen during the team's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Heat didn't offer official comment on either report.

Miami radio station 640 AM first reported Waiters had a reaction to gummies on Friday.

Waiters' mother, Monique Brown, suggested the reports were false. "He's good. We appreciate it".

The team had placed Waiters off limits to media following the opening-night suspension, saying he would be available for comment once he returns to playing status.

Here's what we know that is factual: Waiters was suspended for the season opener due to conduct detrimental to the team and did not make the team's road trip to begin the season.

Waiters will miss out on a $1.2 million contract bonus if he misses four more games this season.

There has been friction between Waiters and the team during his Heat tenure regarding his conditioning, which was set back by an ankle issue that required surgery, with Waiters this past offseason acknowledging on social media about being "in a dark place" amid such outside criticism.

When Spoelstra was asked after the game about the "gummies" report he walked away and said no comment. He allegedly had a seizure when he woke up.

"I'm not done yet but I kno somebody in the world prolli needed to hear this".

Waiters was selected No. 4 overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers after two seasons at Syracuse University.
