Sublime Smith steers Australia to comfortable win over Pakistan

It's expected he will play in next week's Sheffield Shield match for NSW against Western Australia at the SCG, alongside Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith and David Warner.

Assistant editor Daniel Brettig had been a journalist for eight years when he joined ESPNcricinfo, but his fascination with cricket dates back to the early 1990s, when his dad helped him sneak into the family lounge room to watch the end of day-night World Series matches well past bedtime.

UMPIRES: G.A. Abood (Australia) and S.A.J.

Pakistan managed to do what Sri Lanka couldn't in the previous series - removed David Warner - but they had no answers for the peerless Smith, who put on a clinic of clean hitting as Australia mopped up Pakistan's modest total of 150 for six with nine balls to spare.

A piece of his magic in the field had earlier removed Pakistan's most unsafe batsman for Australia, with Babar Azam on 50.

Despite Iftikhar's blitz, the total wasn't almost enough for Pakistan, handing Australia their sixth win in a row in T20Is, which equalled their unbeaten runs in 2010 and 2017-18.

Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins will miss the third T20I against Pakistan on Friday in Perth.

"We've got so much cricket on, he (Cummins) plays a lot of it so when you get a little opportunity rather than taking the long flight to Perth he's going to stay here, recover and get prepared for the Test series", quoted Langer as saying.

"It was nice to be there at the end to get the boys home", man-of-the-match Smith said. He played a magnificent innings.

"I may not be as strong as the other guys", Smith said.

"Kane Richardson has been fantastic with the new ball and at the death again".

"But I guess you have to bare in mind I played my first 25 games as a spinner in this format, batting at No.8 or No.9 and coming in slogging". If you're timing the ball well you get value for your shots most places.

Pat Cummins has been on active duty for Australia across the formats all year. "Players are feeling really confident in their roles and executing their roles".
